In 2022, CONTENUR was awarded the Sustainability Strategy Conformity Certification and its contribution to Circular Economy principles in compliance with the AENOR Model.
To obtain this certification, CONTENUR has taken into account all the projects in the company’s different areas that make a contribution to circular economy principles, from preparing and applying the information to the employees, to the achievements in matters concerning Environmental Sustainability.
This certification has helped CONTENUR to establish the priorities in this field and to implement plans of action that help to achieve the targets that have been set.
The fact that the certification is issued by AENOR, a leading and renowned certifying firm, guarantees CONTENUR’s genuine commitment to putting its plans of action into operation.
This commitment is also made clear by the maintenance and/or renewal of environmental certifications such as Environmental Management (ISO 14001), Energy Management (ISO 50001), the renewal of certifications for Eco-design & Carbon Footprint and the obtaining of the Sustainability Strategy and Circular Economy, making CONTENUR the first company in the sector to obtain this certification.

What is the Sustainable Strategy Certification and what is meant by contribution to the principles of the Circular Economy?
This award is a result of years of work in the sustainability field and in applying the circular economy principles to our processes, all of which has led to responsibility in the use of raw materials making the most of the resources available.
The Circular Economy is an economic concept that is closely associated with sustainability and whose aim is for the value of the products, materials and resources to remain in the economy for as long as possible, reducing waste generation to a minimum. The idea is to implement a new and non-linear economy, based on the principle of “closing the life cycle” for the products, services, waste, materials, water and energy, all of which makes the circular economy the intersection between environmental and economic aspects.
Implementing this strategy is based upon the principles of a circular economy, which are as follows: eco-conception, industrial and territorial ecology, functional economy, second use, reutilization, repairing, recycling, valuing, innovation and transparency.

What is Eco-design
Sustainable management begins by designing a product or service knowing what environmental impact is caused at each and every phase of its life cycle, with a view to trying to reduce such effects to a minimum.
Eco-design means identifying, when preparing a project/service, all the environmental impacts that may be involved at each phase of its life cycle, in order to try to reduce such impacts to a minimum, without reducing quality.
The Eco-design Certification enables the company to adopt a management system for pinpointing, controlling and improving the environmental aspects of its products and/or services in an ongoing and continuous way, providing the company’s customers with information about the products that feature environmental improvements made through their design.
Certification of inscription in the Carbon Footprint Register
With a view to contributing to a reduction in the emission of greenhouse gases at its Getafe and Mielec Production Centres and in the services and underground divisions, CONTENUR has renewed its inclusion in the “Carbon Footprint, Compensation and CO2 Absorption Projects Register (Ministry of Ecological Transition & Demographic Challenge (hereinafter MITERD)) and has obtained the “Carbon Footprint Measurement Seal”.
Thanks to the use of renewable energy, 100% in the manufacturing area and partially in the Services Division, to the incorporation of the transport fleet and its replacement with other more efficient vehicles that cause less pollution, together with the application of good environmental practices, CO2 emissions have decreased considerably.
The renewal of the certificate and positive assessment by the MITERD has been possible thanks to the fact that CONTENUR submitted a reduction plan containing the specific actions that will be taken at its centres to bring about an emissions decrease.
The fact that the Carbon Footprint Measurement Seal has been obtained for yet another year serves to prove that not only is the company continuing to show its commitment to caring for the environment and preventing contamination, but also that it is implementing its sustainable development policy, which are contributing to combat climate change and its effects.
Renewing its Eco-design and Carbon Footprint Measurement Seal and obtaining the Circular Economy & Sustainable Strategy Certification are proof that CONTENUR is enhancing its involvement with the United Nations Sustainable Development Goals – 2030 Agenda. The company is working jointly with all its groups of interest to reduce the environmental impact of its activities, and is doing so not only by strictly implementing its prevention and waste management policies, but also by promoting the responsible use of materials and establishing standardised environmental management systems for all its activities.
